Why Sinuses can Cause Tooth Pain
Toothaches are actually a pretty common symptom of sinus inflammations, such as those caused by the common cold or the flu. You have a whole system of sinuses in your skull, so it’s no wonder that some of them are by your teeth. One of your major sinus passageways, the maxillary sinus, is near the roots of your upper back molars. A congested passageway can irritate these roots in a way that feels a lot like a toothache.
So is it My Sinuses or My Teeth?
We can’t say for sure till you can come in for an exam, but typically with a sinus toothache, you’ll feel the pain in those upper back molars by the maxillary sinus. A normal toothache will usually just be one tooth, but with a sinus infection, you’ll probably have multiple teeth that hurt. It’s also easier to aggravate pain from a sinus toothache by moving or jumping around. When you do so, the pressure in your sinuses shifts, and you can feel it more.
